FAYETTE COUNTY, Ohio – An Uber driver from Westerville was injured in a shooting Sunday morning in Fayette County.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, it happened on June 19 at a home located in the 1600 block of Brock Road NE in Paint Township, located in northeast Fayette County. The sheriff’s office was notified about the shooting by security officers at Mount Carmel Grove City.

The sheriff’s office said the victim, a 28-year-old Westerville man, drove himself to the hospital after being shot in the foot. He was treated for his injury and released.

The victim told investigators he operates as an Uber driver and had transported two people from the Columbus area to the home on Brock Road. Shortly after dropping the subjects off, he received a call and returned for them. They entered the vehicle and as the victim was exiting the driveway of the home, shots were fired, with several striking the victim’s vehicle. One of the shots went through the car door, striking the victim in the foot.

The shooting victim drove toward Mount Carmel Grove City, but missed the exit. He got off I-71 at the Stringtown Road exit, let his two passengers out, then headed toward the hospital.

Investigators searched the home on Brock Rd. and collected evidence they believe to be related to the shooting. The occupant of the home, Joshua Hudson, was arrested and charged with felonious assault. He posted bond and will appear in court at a later date.

The two passengers have not yet been identified by the sheriff’s office.
