WESTERVILLE – A police helicopter was called to help after a Speedway gas station near Uptown Westerville was robbed.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. on April 19 at the Speedway at 360 South State Street.
According to Westerville police, a man asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk turned around with the cigarettes, the man pulled out a shiny revolved and demanded money.
The clerk then emptied both cash registers. The robber got away with around $500, according to police.
The robber was last seen going southeast from the store. Westerville police asked for help from the Columbus Police helicopter, but the suspect was not found.
The robber was described as white, in his 20s, 6′ to 6’03” tall, weighing between 170 and 180lbs. He was wearing black-framed glasses, and had a thin mustache. He was wearing black shoes, black pants, and a black hooded coat that had some kind of reflective material on the cuffs and other parts of the jacket.
A man was detained near Huber Village, but was released after police determined he was not the robber.
