Westerville – A 17-year-old girl was arrested Tuesday, accused of hitting another student with a kettle bell.
According to a police report, it happened Tuesday morning in the weight room of Westerville North High School.
Police said the teen became upset, took a 2kg kettle bell and swung it at a 16-year-old boy twice, striking him on the collarbone. A classroom aide told officers that she stopped the attack and pulled the boy away from the girl the weight was swung a third time.
According to the police report, the girl told police that she was having trouble with the boy for several weeks. She said the incident Tuesday was provoked by an eye roll.
The girl was handcuffed and taken to the Westerville Police Headquarters for booking. Juvenile charges for misdemeanor assault were filed. She was later released to her mother.
The boy was treated by the school nurse for an injury to his neck.
