WESTERVILLE – 2022 marks the return of all events to the annual Field of Heroes, after a two-year hiatus.
More than 3,000 flags will be displayed at the Westerville Sports Complex at 325 N. Cleveland Ave. between May 27 and May 30. The event has been a Memorial Day tradition in Westerville since 2008.
The process of installing flags begins around 9 a.m. Friday and will continue through the afternoon.
Returning to the event this year are the tribute area, education tent, a Saturday evening performance by the Westerville Concert Band, a Sunday evening “Voices of Westerville” program, a flag retirement ceremony and a closing ceremony on Monday.
The 5k takes participants along paved recreation paths, among the flags at the Westerville Sports Complex and through Fire Station 111. The race begins at 8 a.m. Sunday.
