WESTERVILLE, Ohio — A brand new coffee shop will soon be opening in the space once occupied by the Westerville MCL.
Family Room Coffee & Bake Shop is expected to open during the summer of 2023, according to its Facebook page. It will be located at 545 S. Otterbein Road, in the Westerville Square Shopping Center.
“When we walked into the old MCL in the Westerville Plaza, though, we knew that we had found our home,” said a post on the shop’s Facebook page. “At that point, MCL had been gone for more than 3 years, so we had to look past what they left behind to see the potential. We were immediately drawn to the back area that was already outfitted to be a commercial kitchen – complete with plumbing, electric, and even walk in coolers. AND there was a room back there that was perfectly sized to be a coffee bar!”
The shop’s owners hope to use the size of the space to create an environment where people can stay and relax for a while.
“Family Room will be your new home away from home. You will be able to enjoy our delicious coffee, beverages, and signature baked good from our warm and cozy dining area. We will have plenty of space to visit with friends and family, cozy up with a good book, catch up on work, or host a meeting.”
Ordering at Family Room will primarily happen on an app. Owners say they want people to be able to come in, take a seat, and order, instead of standing in a line. Customers could even order before arriving, so their drinks are waiting when they get there.
No specific opening date has been set.
