An East Coast chain known for donuts and coffee is heading planning a new store in Westerville at the site once occupied by Yogi’s Hoagies.
Westerville Economic Development announced plans for a Dunkin’ store in mid-February.
Three buildings will be demolished to make way for the shop. These buildings include the former Yogi’s Hoagies, a Subway restaurant, and a home that housed Keepsake Solutions.
Keepsake Solutions moved to a new location in 2021. The Subway was operated by Dunkin’ franchisee Gilligan Oil Company. Yogi’s Hoagies has not yet found a new home.
Gilligan Oil Company owns dozens of Dunkin’ locations in the Cincinnati area.
Construction is expected to begin in early spring 2022.
The store will be built along South State Street between uptown and I-270. $30 million was spent over eight years developing the area. Improvements include streetscape upgrades, moving overhead utilities underground, updating water and sewer lines, streamlining traffic flow and more.
“The South State Street Corridor has long served as a vital entry point and hub of economic growth for Westerville because of its close proximity to I-270 and Cleveland Avenue,” said Economic Development Director Rachel Ray. “We’re excited to add another amenity for commuters looking to grab a quick bite before heading into work or running errands.”
Dunkin’ is also considering a second location near County Line and Sunbury Roads.
