GENOA TOWNSHIP – A Columbus man is being held on a $100,000 bond after being accused of pistol whipping an Uber driver in Genoa Township.
It happened around 3:34 a.m. on Monday, July 11 along Park Bend Drive. That’s north of Maxtown Road, near Westerville Central High School.
According to Genoa Township police, the Uber driver had an intoxicated passenger passed out in the back of his car. When the driver tried to wake the passenger, the passenger started punching the driver, according to police. Police said the passenger then got a gun out and started hitting the driver in the back of the head. Police say the gun was loaded.
According to court records, the driver was treated for a laceration to the head.
Court records identify the suspect as 24-year-old Dalonte Kibby. Kibby was charged with felonious assault. He was arrested and booked in the Delaware County Jail. During a court appearance Monday, bond was set at $100,000.
A second court appearance is scheduled for July 21.
